Storm Jonas, responsible for dumping feet of snow over the U.S, is battering the UK, bringing heavy rain and gale force winds and more is on the way. Western parts of the UK will see the worst of the weather such as Cumbria. A school there has already been closed due to earlier rain fall which caused flooding on roads.

Ferries heading to the Scottish Islands and Isle of Wight are currently disrupted, and in Edinborough a man was seriously hurt when the wind caused a chimney to smash through a bus window.

A first band of heavy rain and high winds is now moving south and east, but a second band is forecast to arrive from the west overnight into Wednesday.

The weather has already wreaked havoc throughout the day. Hundreds of homes in wales have been left without power due to the severe winds. Ferry services have been cancelled due to high winds and high waves in Scotland and Ireland. Some trains have also been affected along coastal areas, with the tracks being flooded.
